There’s a lot of history in the region, and both Suzanna Moodie and Catherine Parr Traill settled here. For them, and those to follow, the region offered the best of a number of different worlds, including arable land, and proximity to transportation, most notably in the Trent-Severn Waterway, now home to a number of national historic sites.
Thankfully the area isn’t as rustic as it was in Moodie’s day, but it still retains a close association to outdoor activities. The camps in the region make use of the lakes, particularly, for canoe tripping. Both day and overnight camps are here, all offering the full range of traditional camp activities and then some.
