PreMedSKL is a virtual mentorship program founded by internationally renowned physician Dr. Sanjay Sharma for high school students who are serious about exploring a future in medicine. Every two weeks, students participate in immersive half-day sessions where they don’t just learn about medicine — they learn how doctors think. Using the same clinical frameworks taught in medical school, including the SOAP method (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan), students work through real patient cases and develop structured diagnostic reasoning skills.
In the cardiology module, students move beyond textbook diagrams to understand how the heart truly works — and how physicians respond when something goes wrong. They explore the major categories of heart disease, learn how blood flow and electrical signals coordinate each heartbeat, and apply diagnostic tools like the MAP-IT framework to evaluate high-stakes symptoms such as chest pain and palpitations. Through interactive sessions on heart sounds, murmurs, ECG interpretation, and cardiovascular examinations, students practice distinguishing everyday findings from life-threatening emergencies.
By the end of the course, students gain more than knowledge — they develop confidence, clinical insight, and a patient-centered approach that bridges classroom science with real-world medical thinking.
