PreMedSKL is a virtual mentorship program for high school students founded by internationally renowned physician Dr. Sanjay Sharma. Every two weeks, students participate in immersive half-day sessions where they work through real clinical cases using the SOAP framework (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) to develop structured diagnostic reasoning skills.
In the pediatrics module, students explore how medicine changes when caring for patients from newborns to teenagers. They learn how a child’s anatomy and physiology evolve after birth and how pediatricians manage everything from common fevers and developmental delays to adolescent mental health and ADHD. Using interactive simulations and case-based learning, students practice gathering history from parents and educators, identifying developmental “red flags,” interpreting diagnostic tests, and triaging urgent newborn conditions. By integrating clinical reasoning with practical exam skills — including virtual ear exams — students are exposed to the bridge between foundational science with the thoughtful judgment required in real pediatric care.
