Who are you as an organization?
Serenity Renewal for Families provides hope and support in a safe environment through short-term counselling, educational workshops and programs for individuals and families affected directly or indirectly by addictions. For over 40 years, we’ve offered counselling and educational programs to clients young and old, improving the emotional well-being of thousands of families.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?
"At Serenity Renewal for Families, we provide support for anyone affected directly or indirectly by addictions. Many family members, including children are impacted by the addiction of a loved one. This is most often recognized in behavioural, social, or emotional issues that are developed overtime. Our agency facilitates programs and camps for young people to help foster healthy coping skills and resilience. We also host workshops for adults who are in recovery, seeking to support someone in recovery, or in need of support for themselves to cope with a loved ones addiction. Our approach is family-centred. We offer services to support the whole family in growing healthy together."
Who are your staff and counsellors?
"Our programs and workshops are facilitated by experienced and highly trained counsellors and child and youth workers. Our children and youth program staff are First Aid/CPR certified and trained to work with young people with diverse behavioural, emotional, social, and learning needs."
What do families need to know about registration?
"Our clients are individuals or families who are impacted by the effects of addiction within the family, including intergenerationally. To register for our family programs or camps, please send an email to [email protected]. Once contacted, registrants will be asked to complete an intake to assess eligibility. Our workshops are open to adults who are in recovery or affected by the addiction of a loved one. Registration for our workshops can be done over the phone by calling 613-523-5143. An email can also be sent to [email protected]. An intake will also need to be completed over the phone to confirm eligibility. Programs and workshops are facilitated year-round. "

The Our Kids review of Serenity Renewal
Addiction can play a harrowing role in the lives of those affected by it. Kids, in particular, but also the entire family unit, can benefit from support and education when family members have addiction issues. Serenity Renewal has been making an impact on those affected by addiction for over 40 years. They offer short-term counseling, as well as workshops and programs in a safe space, in hopes of improving the well-being of those who are affected. Helping their participants cope with what they are dealing with is the first priority, but also facilitating growth and communication, so the participant feels heard and is supported. All programs are evidence-based, meaning they have research to back up their methods. For young kids, storytelling and puppets are a safe and non-intimidating way to teach kids the skills they need to deal with the difficult situations they are facing. The staff at Serenity Renewal are empathetic and skilled mental health professionals who are passionate about helping families understand and heal.
