This camp is designed to build the following character traits:

Resilience: Coding requires trial and error. In Dev Mode, students tackle real-world programming challenges, particularly through debugging. They learn how code breaks and exactly how to fix it, developing the patience and optimistic problem-solving mindset needed to overcome complex technical hurdles.
Curiosity: Dev Mode pushes students to ask, "How does this actually work?" By moving beyond basic templates to integrate live cloud databases, weather APIs, and generative AI into their projects, participants actively explore the backend mechanics of the professional apps they use every single day.

Ready to level up? Move beyond the basics in Slingshot App Lab Level 2: Dev Mode! Hosted at Branksome Hall's innovation hub, this intensive one-week summer program is designed for tech enthusiasts (Ages 12-14 / Grades 7-9) who are ready to develop apps that actually think.

In Dev Mode, participants transition from beginner visual tools to real coding. Students learn to build intelligent, data-driven experiences that respond to the real world in real-time. You'll learn the foundations of React Native or Flutter (today's leading app frameworks), use Firebase to save data, and plug in live APIs—like weather, maps, or generative AI.
