This camp is designed to build the following character traits:

Religious faith: Campers spend time daily in personal, small group and large group devotions. Campers also learn how to share their faith with others.
Interpersonal skills: As a leadership program, campers learn the skills required to interact with others in a leadership role. Campers understand how to counsel younger campers, interact with fellow staff, and respond to their leadership.

CILT I is a general leadership program with the following major goals:

1. Grow in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
2. Learn the values and philosophy of Camp Cherith
3. Understand the duties of a staff member and practice the skills required by staff members such as planning activities & programs, cookouts, campouts, and cabin time

CILTs in their first year (CILT I’s) attend activities as active observers. They are to participate in everything, set a good example for other campers, and observe activity leadership. They will be asked to assist in leading each of their activities for one day. They will participate in evening programs and are available to assist with leading programs according to their giftedness. This is a two-week program.
