Oui.

International Language Camps – TEENS MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE | French Immersion | Ages 14–17

French. Mountains. Adventure. Independence.

TEENS MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE is designed for teenagers ages 14–17 who want more than a traditional summer camp. Set in Megève in the French Alps, the program combines French immersion, mountain adventures, outdoor experiences and international friendships with opportunities to develop greater independence, confidence and responsibility.

Teens are encouraged to step outside their comfort zone, make decisions, work as a team and take greater ownership of their camp experience. French becomes part of everyday life as campers learn, communicate, explore and share experiences with teenagers from around the world.

Established in 1996, The International Language Camps intentionally remains small, welcoming around 40 campers per week with approximately one adult for every five campers. This creates an international environment where teenagers can enjoy greater independence while remaining personally known and supported by the ILC team.

French Beyond the Classroom

French lessons are designed around communication and practical use rather than passive learning.

Campers learn in small groups of no more than eight students, organised according to language level. Interactive workshops encourage discussion, participation, role-playing and real-life communication.

But French learning does not stop when class ends.

Throughout the day, teens have opportunities to use the language naturally while taking part in activities, exploring the region and sharing everyday life with an international group.

The objective is to help teenagers become more confident communicating in French while connecting language learning to meaningful experiences.

Mountain Adventure and Personal Growth

The mountains become an important part of the TEENS MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE experience.

Depending on the weekly program and conditions, teenagers may take part in challenging outdoor and mountain activities, sports, excursions and team experiences designed for their age group.

Adventure is not only about physical challenge. Activities provide opportunities to develop skills that teenagers can take beyond camp:

• Independence and personal responsibility.
• Decision-making and problem-solving.
• Communication and teamwork.
• Initiative and leadership.
• Confidence in unfamiliar situations.
• Adaptability and openness to other cultures.

The goal is to give teens space to challenge themselves, make choices and discover what they are capable of within a supportive international environment.

A Typical Day

Morning:
Interactive French language workshops focused on communication and practical use, with a maximum of eight students per class.

Afternoon:
Mountain adventures, outdoor activities, sports and team challenges adapted to teenagers. Depending on the program and conditions, experiences may include activities such as hiking, via ferrata, canyoning, rafting, mountain biking and other Alpine adventures.

Evening:
After an active day, teens enjoy a more relaxed social program with their international friends, including group activities, games and shared experiences.

The rhythm is designed to give teenagers a balance between structured activities, adventure, social time and increasing independence.

A Premium Residential Experience in Megève

The residential experience is one of the distinctive features of The International Language Camps.

Rather than staying in traditional summer camp dormitories, our residential campers are accommodated at Hôtel Au Vieux Moulin, a high-quality hotel located in the centre of Megève.

After days spent learning, exploring and taking on new challenges, teenagers return to a comfortable hotel environment where they can relax and spend time with their friends.

ILC staff are present at the hotel day and night, providing continuity of supervision throughout the stay.

For teenagers, this creates a particularly attractive balance: the independence and social experience they expect from an international summer camp, combined with the comfort of quality hotel accommodation and the presence of the ILC team.

The hotel's central location also allows campers to experience the atmosphere of Megève and feel connected to life in this iconic Alpine resort.

International Friendships and Greater Independence

For teenagers, some of the most important experiences at camp happen through the people they meet.

TEENS MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE brings together young people from different countries, languages and cultures. Living, learning and experiencing adventures together encourages campers to communicate, collaborate and see the world from different perspectives.

At ages 14–17, teenagers are also ready for greater responsibility. The program encourages them to take initiative, participate in decisions, support their teammates and become increasingly independent.

These experiences can help them return home not only with stronger French skills, but also with greater confidence, maturity and openness to the world.

Discover the French Alps

Campers staying two weeks or more can also take part in Sunday excursions that extend their experience beyond Megève.

Depending on the program, excursions may include destinations such as Chamonix and the Mer de Glace, the Aiguille du Midi, Annecy, and other Alpine locations.

These experiences give teenagers opportunities to discover more of the region, experience French culture and share memorable moments with their international friends.
