Neilson Park Creative Centre answered our questions
Who are you as an organization?
Established in 1992, Neilson Park Creative Centre (NPCC) is a creative learning environment where participants are encouraged to explore and enrich their lives through the arts. We offer camps for three age groups: ages 5-8, 7-11, and 8-12. With Summer camps, P.A. Day camps and weekly classes throughout the year, kids will explore a wide range of mediums such as watercolour, mixed media, clay sculpture, and more! NPCC is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and positive environment. Scholarships may be available through our Scholarship Campaign.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?
"What sets us apart is not only our extensive history but also our deeply ingrained values and philosophy. We believe in the transformative power of art to inspire, educate, and empower young minds. Our mission goes beyond merely teaching art skills; it's about instilling confidence, nurturing self-expression, and fostering a lifelong appreciation for creativity. Parents and children choose us over others because of our unique approach to art education. Our programs are designed to cater to different age groups, ensuring that each child receives tailored instruction that meets their developmental needs and interests."
Who are your staff and counsellors?
"One of the hallmarks of our experience is our team of professional artist instructors. With diplomas and degrees in child and youth care and fine art, they bring a wealth of expertise and passion to every class and camp. Not only do they teach art techniques, but they also serve as mentors and role models, inspiring young artists to reach their full potential."
What do families need to know about registration?
"Registration for programs is on a first-come first-serve basis. To register for a program, you can create an account on our website or give us a call. If a program is full, you will be placed on a waitlist and will be contacted should anyone cancel before the program starts. Our cancelation policy is minimum 2 weeks notice before the start date and there is an admin fee of $25 that gets removed from the refund amount. All pertinent details will be sent via email prior to the start date."

The Our Kids review of Neilson Park Creative Centre
Neilson Park Creative Centre was founded as a centre for the arts, one that could supply spaces for a range of users, from professional artists to those seeking to try something new. It provides a hub for people to come together around the arts, and the summer camps are an important part of that environment. When kids arrive to the camps, they enter a place that includes them, though which they understand is for lots of other people too. They engage in active programs with peers and mentors, though they also see so many others doing the same thing, and the cross-pollination of it all is one of the things that makes the offering so unique and valuable. Kids will learn new things, and have fun, while being afforded a wider view of what it means to be involved in the arts.

Birthday parties at Neilson Park Creative Centre are always a blast! Parties are available for children between the ages of 5 to 12 who want to have a fun evening of art-making. Each birthday party is hosted in our beautiful studios with plenty of space and natural light. Guests are led through an art activity of your choosing by one of our superstar instructors! Each participant gets to bring their unique work home with them! All materials are included. Whether you’re planning a workshop, meeting, or special event, consider renting studio space here at Neilson Park Creative Centre! We have four sunny studios available for rent in the peace and quiet of Neilson Park’s beautiful green fields and forested walkways. Our facility is top of the line for artistic endeavours and a unique and inspiring space for all! Neilson Park Creative Centre has two large galleries that are available for rental. Artspace Connect is a spacious room with 120 feet of wall hanging space. The Parkview Gallery has 86 feet of running space and is a wide hallway that connects from the entrance to the atrium. Both gallery spaces are equipped with natural lighting and spot lights. Our gallery spaces welcome artwork from individual artists, artist collectives, independent curators and other organization. M.F.A. Indiana State University; B.F.A. York University, TorontoWelcome to Neilson Park Creative Centre (NPCC) in Central Etobicoke. We are located in the heart of Neilson Park adjacent to the Etobicoke Creek and Ravine, with resident coyotes, deer, rabbits and bugs living in the nearby woods!
Since 1993, we’ve been providing quality and affordable art education to our community. We believe that all children should benefit from the arts so that they can expand their ability to interact with the world around them using creative communication as tools for self-expression.
We offer year-round visual art programming during weeknights and weekends and, in the summer, week-long daytime camps. Our programs encourage the growth of creative problem-solving skills, independence and confidence, all the while encouraging children to interact with each other in a beautiful, studio setting.
Inside NPCC, kids get to explore our exhibitions in our gallery spaces. Outside, kids have the chance to be inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us, or blow off steam in our park playground!
