This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Responsibility: As a nonprofit, The Money Club is built around responsible stewardship, transparency, and community-minded learning. Students see that money can be used thoughtfully and that resources should be directed with purpose.
  • Resilience: Students build resilience by testing ideas, hearing feedback, revising their work, and trying again. They learn that progress comes through iteration, problem-solving, and staying engaged when things do not work the first time.

Located at UTSU Student Commons in downtown Toronto, The Money Club.Org is a hands-on summer program for computer-literate students to learn by building, testing, and presenting real ideas. Working in teams, students receive a project budget and develop something people might actually respond to—a product, a service, or a simple app or community-based idea.

The program combines financial literacy, design thinking, and AI in a supervised, classroom-based setting. Students use AI as a practical tool to research ideas, analyze information, create marketing, and help build simple products and prototypes. They then test those ideas and refine them based on real feedback.

What makes The Money Club different is that students do not just learn skills—they use them to make real decisions. They work through costs, pricing, feedback, and tradeoffs to understand what actually works.

Students learn how to:

  • present their thinking clearly
  • understand costs, pricing, and margins
  • use AI to research, build, and create
  • design products or services people might want
  • test ideas and improve them
  • identify real problems worth solving
