This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Courage: Teens step outside their comfort zones by spending full weekends in nature, learning new outdoor skills, and embracing challenges like fire-making, shelter-building, and exploring the wilderness through all seasons.
  • Resilience: Teens build resilience by navigating unpredictable weather, overcoming outdoor challenges, and learning to adapt and problem-solve in a supportive group. Pine mentors guide participants to view obstacles as opportunities for growth.

We know that Teens need the freedom to test their limits and explore their sense of self. In our Teens Wilderness Adventure Program,  we mix active instruction with experiential learning to inspire teens to challenge themselves with new wilderness skills.

Over four exciting weekends throughout the school year, participants join experienced Pine mentors to:

  • Explore forests and wild spaces
  • Learn wilderness skills like shelter-building, fire-making, animal tracking, and safe tool use
  • Develop confidence and independence through fun, hands-on challenges
  • Work as a team, share stories, and reflect together around the fire

Each weekend adventure builds skills and friendships, while encouraging teens to grow as leaders and environmental stewards. The program provides a rare chance to unplug, take on real-world challenges, and connect deeply with nature and community.
