How to find the best camp in Clarington for your child

There are dozens of different summer camps in Clarington, and you might want to try them all! But of course you need to pick from among them. Practical matters

• How does the camp’s daily schedule fit with your own? Does the camp have specific rules about drop-off and pick-up times? 
• Do parents need to sign a waiver? If so, what is included in the waiver? 
• How is the camp accredited? 
• How does the schedule break down specific activities? How much of your child’s favourite activity will they be able to indulge in? 

Matters of safety and discipline

• What safety measures are in place? Make sure counsellors have police checks. Ask about how they deal with discipline issues. Ask about the ratio of kids to leaders.
• How are campers grouped and led? Make sure you know how many kids there are in each session or program. Are they grouped by age, age range, gender? Be certain to meet and talk with the leader who will be responsible for your child. 

Matters of food, drink, and diet

• What are the rules regarding food? How is the camp mindful of peanut allergies and other food product restrictions? Are kids required or allowed to bring their own snacks? If your child has any special diet concerns, how will those be respected? 
• Are kids encouraged to hydrate on hot days?
