It has been an exciting month at Toronto School of Art with our Summer Art Camps in full swing! From exploring materials such as charcoal, conte, markers, paint, ink, and more students have been busy making wonderfully creative artworks.
In our Mix It Up: Drawing, Collage, and Mixed Media Art Camp (ages 10-13), students were able to build on the fundamentals of drawing techniques. For one project, using various dry media, students would create a drawing and turn it into a form of collage. Students also began exploring gesture drawing. As a special addition to the course, the class took part in drawing nature with some outdoor drawing in the park. It was a great first week to start off our Summer Programming!
Youth Studio for ages 14-17 had a variety of approaches to art making. Students in this class were able to explore aspects of drawing, painting, and sculpture mediums. As part of the class, students took part in field trips to the Art Gallery of Ontario, The Power Plant, and Mercer Union Gallery. During these inspiring field trips, students were able to see different stylistic approaches to creating art. Overall, the Youth Studio was a fantastic class that had students exploring creating art and building their knowledge of contemporary art and art history!
Proportion and perspective were some of the main elements that students focused on in Life Drawing for Teens (ages 14-17). Working from the model, students built their observational skills in relation to drawing the figure. Tricky concepts made simple, as students practiced and applied new techniques during the week, the artwork that was produced was amazing!
The fun isn't over yet, there are still spaces open for our last two Art Camps running in August!
