Engineering camps allow kids and teens to explore principles and develop skills related to a career as an engineer. Kids in these camps develop technological and technical skills that anticipate the future job market in engineering and related technologies. Camps provide students with a broad exposure to the variety of engineering disciplines, including aerospace, biomedical, computer science, civil & environmental, electrical, materials science and mechanical. These camps may also cover topics like robotics and sciences that may be pertinent.

Engineering kids camps

Engineering camps often include projects, field trips and other classroom activities. Campers get a chance to work on several projects incorporating different aspects of engineering. In addition, industrial site visits, engineering seminars, workshops, competitions and motivational speakers add to the value of these camps. A variety of contests and award programs are also held at these educative camps.

Green engineering is an emerging trend and some engineering camps offer students the opportunity to design and build machines powered by alternative energy sources. Solar cars, wind-powered electrical generation, human-powered vehicles and other such innovative and environmentally–friendly ideas are also implemented.

Topics like Robotics enable campers to use their creativity to design, build and program robots. Campers at engineering camps are given an opportunity to design and program things as diverse as video games and wind turbines, use a microcontroller, design, build, program and test machines and perform various other activities related to engineering.

Many engineering camps are held at colleges and universities in the holidays and summer vacation, offering kids a glimpse of life inside a college or university engineering faculty.
