Canadian kids find thrills and spills

Adventure camps offer kids an opportunity to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. Adventure camps can teach young people to push a little harder, reach a little higher and dig a little deeper to master a particular task and learn about teamwork and contribution. Adventure camps offer kids a few thrills and a whole lot of fun.

Whether it is whitewater rafting, rock climbing, skateboarding, a high ropes course or wilderness survival, adventure camps provide kids with more than an adrenalin rush.

Adventure camp is about risk taking and skill development while being supported by experienced and knowledgeable staff and fellow campers. These camps also teach kids how to challenge themselves, while keeping safety in mind. Many of the physical activities require the support of others, so adventure camps foster team-building skills and teach kids to trust in others and to be trustworthy. Adventure camps often appeal to teenagers, who may be looking for greater challenges.

International Language Camps is a European camp for children and teens from 7 to 17 years old from around the world. We offer holidays and vacations with a multitude of activities and a complete language teaching program (English or French), all in the heart of the French Alps.

We organise Summer and Winter camp with fun language lessons in the morning and sports activities in the afternoon (mountain-biking, rafting, hiking, swimming, snowboarding...). Children will have the chance to spend their holiday with young people from all over the world, studying the language and taking part in their favorite sports.

Children have the possibility to develop their linguistic skills and discover new activities and cultures.

Our language programs not only offer an opportunity to learn a foreign language but also encourage campers to discover new cultures, to make new friends, to value different activities, to learn to live and work with others, to get involved with an international community and, most importantly, to blossom with this success.

Everything is designed to establish an atmosphere of confidence and we encourage the campers to be active in their own learning, creating the desire to continue to learn and to communicate.

The children are lucky enough to stay in one of the most beautiful hotels in Megève.

We have 4 differents programs:

- Fun Program 7 -11 years old

- Adrenalin Program 12 - 16 years old

- Intense Mountain program: 14 - 17 years old

- Intense Water Sports Program: 14 - 17 years old.

Possibility to stay 2 to 7 weeks.

of academically trained marine science instructors, biologists, geologists and oceanographers. Courses may include general marine sciences, marine communities, animal behavior, marine invertebrates, marine botany, marine vertebrates, marine geology and marine aquaria. Advanced studies are offered in reef fish ecology, coral reef ecology, independent studies and underwater field research using scuba. All science activities include studies in both the field snorkeling and the laboratory.

In addition to the fun found under the water, Seacamp’s Aquatics classes provide the opportunity to learn about what goes on at the water’s surface. Sailing classes familiarize campers with the winds, tides and currents. The windsurfing course starts campers on a dry-land simulator; they learn the basic aspects of rigging, tacking,
jibing, rules of the road, board control and more and progress to racing and freestyle techniques. Canoeing and kayaking classes explore the natural resources of the Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve. Certification in A m e r i c a n R e d C r o s s Lifeguarding is also offered.Seacamp offers several courses in SCUBA diving to qualified participants. SCUBA courses are designed to give the camper the appropriate skills for safely using scuba
as an underwater research tool.

Each session 140-160 campers come to Seacamp, mostly from the US, but also from around the world. There are about 30 international campers each summer from an average of twelve countries. Many Seacamp program graduates have gone on to prominent careers as  environmental educators and marine scientists. To join the Seacamp adventure, visit seacamp.org and complete the apply to Seacamp form and an application will be sent directly to you.  If you want to see what our campers say about us, go to our Facebook page at Seacamp Association Inc.  Questions?  Email us at info@seacamp.org.   We love talking about camp!

Founded in 1966, Seacamp, the first program dedicated to the education of youth in marine sciences.  The Marine Science Program is the heart of Seacamp. Young scientists participate in a variety of courses under the guidance
of academically trained marine science instructors, biologists, geologists and oceanographers. Campers work in teams learning basic ecological principles that are pertinent to both the study of marine science and to the future of our natural re-sources.  Each 7 day program is theme based;

Science Themes for Each Week
Week 1:Tropical Marine Ecosystems: Florida Keys Ecology
Week 2: Tropical Marine Ecosystems: Animal Behavior

In addition to the fun found under the water, Seacamp’s Aquatics classes provide the opportunity to learn about what goes on at the water’s surface.  The windsurfing experience begins on a dry-land simulator learning the basic aspects of rigging, tacking, jibing, rules of the road, and board control. Windsurfing familiarizes campers with the winds, tides and currents.Kayaking classes explore the natural resources of the Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve.
Express Yourself! Arts & Crafts activities may include tie-dyeing, nature crafts, jewelry making, and more. Activities are planned to incorporate the needs of all campers, so no one is ever left out. Seacamp’s enthusiastic and gregarious staff members go out of their way to include everyone in the fun.

Campers investigate, through snorkeling,  the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, moving among clear blue waters, coral canyons, sandy and grassy areas, mud flats, and natural tide pools– all teeming with invertebrates, fish and mammals.

Campers use their scuba skills to study the ocean Seacamp offers SCUBA diving to qualified participants who are already certified. SCUBA courses are designed to give the camper the appropriate skills for safely using scuba as an underwater research tool.  The SCUBA program will consist of different types of open water dives involving scientific data collection and marine life studies. It will provide the campers with: development of observational abilities, training in the collection of scientific data, experience in ocean diving, further development and refinement of diving skills. Campers must attend both one-week sessions to participate. Space is
limited to 12 campers on a first come basis.

Each session 70 campers come to Seacamp, mostly from the US, but also from around the world.

Our Camp is located on a large property on Pigeon Lake, 40 minutes north east of Peterborough.  We have a beautiful sandy beach.  Children stay in small age specific groups of up to 6 persons.  Daily activities include swimming, canoeing, biking, archery, arts and crafts, fishing, survival and many more.  Every day there is a different all camp game that kids take part in - Capture the Flag, Find your Councilor, Water Splashing Day and other fun games for all camp to participate in.  We make sure that the children are always safe and well cared for.  Our staff to camper ratio is approximately 2:1 with over 90% of staff having previous camp work experience and 100% are trained to work in our camp.  This camp has been in existence for over 30 year and camp facilities are well established to house a group of up to 100 children and 60 staff.  All camp workers are Christian volunteers which allows us to maintain low camper fees.  We teach the basics of the Christian faith during daily Bible lessons and try to show Christ's love towards children and others by personal example at all times.  Each camp day ends with a fun campfire and songs.  Children form strong bonds with each other and staff members.
