Attention 15/16 year olds born in 2002. This is your chance to earn a once in a lifetime opportunity to attend Camp Kandalore’s Pathfinder Leadership Program this summer!
What is the Pathfinder Program?
Kandalore's Pathfinder Leadership program combines an incredible Leadership experience with the development of hard and soft skills, along with a 5-day white water canoe trip down the beautiful Madawaska River.
But what sets this teen leadership program above all others is the additional benefit of earning OSSD High School credits, and the 'in' you'll receive if you want to work at camp in the future.
The Pathfinder leadership scholarship is open for entries until March 1st, 2018. And one lucky teen will win this opportunity of a lifetime free of charge. In addition to the grand prize, several additional finalists and runners up will also receive significant awards. The winners can choose to attend one of two sessions: July or August.
Who is eligible
The contest is open to all students born in 2002 (turning 16 years old in 2018). Successful applicants will demonstrate they possess leadership potential and character, camp related skills, and the enthusiasm to be part of the program.
Why apply? Why not?
Former Disney CEO, Michael Eisner, summed it up when he described his days as a summer camp counselor as some of the most valuable leadership training he has ever had. The Pathfinder Program at Camp Kandalore is a one month Leadership Program that prepares teens for a staff role as a counsellor, and provides sought after life skills for any career path.
When in camp, the Pathfinder leaders will specialize in specific camp activities. They will also be placed in camper cabins where they will build experience working with our youngest campers. The focus on soft skill development through closely working with campers and shadowing counsellors is extremely valuable. Workshops on communication, team work, leadership styles and decision making help to groom these young people into capable and confident leaders.
Many Pathfinder Leaders move on to work at camp and become counsellors at Kandalore, but all will build the social skills, confidence, creativity and independence that young people need to be successful in today’s world.
Plus... come to camp and earn a high school credits! All Pathfinders can come away with the following credit and certifications:
- Healthy Living and Outdoor Activities (PAD30)
- Emergency First Aid and CPR-C
- Bronze Medallion and /or Cross
- ORCKA Flatwater Certifications
- 40 hours of community service
How to enter
Applying is fairly easy. Simply complete the short application form (available on their website) and email it to [email protected] along with a letter of intent explaining why you would like to take part in the Pathfinder Leadership Program and what makes you a good candidate for the program.
