Most summer camps involve canoeing and hanging out in the wilderness, not prototyping a new mobile app. Then again, Future Design School (fdschool.co) isn’t your regular summer camp. The new design thinking school for children in grades 4 to 12, launched earlier this year by serial entrepreneur Sarah Prevette, is meant to encourage creativity and entrepreneurship. The spaces for its first series of “innovation camps” this summer were sold out.
The goal of FDS is to introduce youth to critical thinking and startup methodologies and ultimately teach them that entrepreneurship is a viable career choice.
“As a society we need to do a better job at encouraging entrepreneurship, helping kids pursue their curiosity, enabling them to learn through experimentation and empowering them to have a tangible impact on the world around them,” Prevette said.
