Rugby can be a great activity for kids. Both boys and girls can enjoy the rough and tumble of a good rugby game. Luckily, in Canada, there are plenty of rugby camps to choose from. These camps offer programs for kids of different ages and levels.

What is rugby?

Rugby involves lots of athleticism, skills, smarts, strategy, and coordination. It’s a physical, high-energy team sport where the aim is for your team to move the ball into the opponent’s territory. It’s a full-contact support in which players wear little or no gear.

What does a rugby camp have to offer?

Rugby camp is a great summer or winter activity for boys or girls. Your child, in one of these camps, will receive rugby training from experienced coaches (and in some cases, professional rugby players). They’ll learn the basics of rugby, and take part in drills and workouts.

For many kids, though, the most fun part of rugby camp is playing in games or matches with other children. In some cases, this may be part of ongoing league play, where each team plays multiple games and aims to have the best record, and possibly compete in playoffs, round robins, or tournaments. In other cases, the games may be mostly for fun, where scores and records may not even be kept.

You can be sure, though, that in either case, your child will be teamed up with and play against children of a similar level. Moreover, rugby camps, like most other sports camps and programs, place a heavy emphasis on good sportsmanship.

What are the benefits of rugby camp?

Rugby can be a great summer, weekend, or after school activity. It can have some amazing benefits for your child. These include the following:

  • It can improve their fitness.
  • It can improve their coordination and skill level.
  • It can teach them teamwork and leadership.
  • It can be a great social experience.
  • It can boost their confidence and self-esteem.
  • It can be fun and exciting.

Below, find a list of rugby camps in Canada. Some of these camps specialize in rugby, while others offer rugby as one activity among others.
