Private schools are not obligated to support gifted learners with special programs. Many private schools don't—even ones with strong academic reputations. The schools listed on this page, however, do. We organize the schools into groups: dedicated gifted schools, schools with dedicated gifted classes, and schools offering in-class gifted support. Then, in the fourth group, we identify schools that don't offer formal gifted support but have accelerated curricula for all their students.
These are self-contained gifted schools, where 100% of the students are gifted. Teachers and staff can focus on tailoring the environment to gifted students, without compromise.

Broadly speaking, the cost of gifted schools in Richmond Hill generally aligns with private school tuition in general. Day student fees can range from $5,000 to over $30,000 per year.
There are several affordable options for gifted schools. Less expensive schools often deliver excellent education by concentrating on core classroom learning. You don’t need to spend a fortune on extras; the key is ensuring your child receives individualized support. That said, higher-priced schools typically offer a broader range of in-class and extracurricular gifted programs and are often larger and more established. Across most schools, teacher salaries remain the largest operating expense.
Many schools provide financial aid—including bursaries, tuition relief, and scholarships. Needs-based aid helps families who require support, while merit-based scholarships recognize achievements in academics, athletics, or other areas. You can learn more about financial aid and scholarships in our dedicated guide. Even families with moderate means may qualify for assistance, so don’t hesitate to inquire with schools.

Without the tailored support they require, these students may disengage from school—or even experience emotional challenges such as depression.
If you know or suspect your child is gifted, consider the following questions:
You might also explore alternative options, including language immersion programs, special needs programs, the International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement courses (for older students), and Montessori schools.

Private schools are not legally required to support gifted children—and many do not. However, some offer highly individualized gifted programs. The principle of “buyer beware” applies: it’s essential to confirm that schools are equipped to meet the needs of gifted learners.
