From full-day academies entirely designed for gifted learners to conventional schools with dedicated advanced-track classes, these institutions deliver enriched academics, creative pursuits, and personalized support systems.
Tuition for gifted programs generally mirrors the broader private school landscape—typically ranging from about $5,000 to over $30,000 per year, depending on the school, grade level, and program intensity. These gifted-focused environments offer families compelling options that nurture exceptional potential in a supportive and stimulating setting.

Private schools are not obligated to support gifted children with special programs. Many private schools don't—even ones with strong academic reputations. The schools listed on this page, however, do. We organize the schools into groups: dedicated gifted schools, schools with dedicated gifted programs, and schools offering in-class gifted support. Then, in the fourth group, we identify schools that don't offer formal gifted support but have accelerated curricula for all their students.
These are self-contained gifted schools, where 100% of the students are gifted. Teachers and staff can focus on tailoring the environment to gifted students, without compromise.

The cost of gifted schools in Ontario generally reflects the range of private school tuition, which can span from $5,000 to over $30,000 per year for day students.
There are quite a few affordable private schools for gifted kids. Inexpensive schools can often provide an excellent education by focusing on the classroom basics. You don't need to spend a fortune on bells and whistles: the key is getting your child individualized support. Having said that, the pricier schools will tend to provide a wider breadth of in-class and extracurricular opportunities. They will also tend to be larger and more established. Nonetheless, for most schools, the largest operating expense is usually teacher salaries.
Many Ontario gifted schools offer financial assistance, including needs-based bursaries (sometimes called "tuition relief" or "tuition assistance") and merit-based scholarships for academic, athletic, or other achievements. There are many great gifted programs and schools in Ontario. These include schools and programs in Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga, and Brampton. The ideal program will tailor its approach to your gifted or talented child (similar to the Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia approach). This is done to meet their unique learning needs.
Gifted children have highly advanced learning needs. They usually have learning abilities in the 98th percentile in one or more subjects.
But, it might be asked, how do I know if my child is gifted? Giftedness can emerge at a young age. And while there are no foolproof signs of being gifted, there are some common characteristics that go along with it. These include:
If you suspect your child is gifted, you may want to have them take a gifted test. A gifted test can allow you to learn whether your child has advanced learning abilities. If it includes a psycho-educational assessment, it can also give you detailed information about your child's social and emotional makeup. It can thus give you a strong sense of what type of learning and social environment is the right fit for your child.
Gifted and talented children have different needs than most students. Gifted learners are often so advanced in their intellectual abilities that they are outliers in the classroom: a normal curriculum and approach won't be enough. When they don't receive the custom support they need, they can disengage from school—and even become depressed.
In other words, gifted children can't just be left on their own. If you know your child is gifted, you'll need to find the right school or program for them. In the end, you'll face a number of questions:

Private schools in Ontario are not required by law to provide support for gifted children—and many don't. On the other hand, some private schools are able to offer very specialized gifted child programs. It's thus up to you to make sure a school or program is the right fit for your gifted child.
