Ultimate rules
Ultimate frisbee, or as it’s often called “ultimate,” is a fun summer sport. It’s a non-contact, fast-paced team sport played with a plastic disc. Points are scored by passing the disc to one’s teammate in the opposing team’s end zone. Other ultimate rules are that players can’t take steps while holding the disc, and turnovers are caused by interceptions and incomplete and out of bounds passes.
What ultimate camps offer
Ultimate frisbee camps can be a great option for your child. They’ll learn the rules of ultimate, and play in games with other kids. These games are usually officiated by kids themselves as part of what’s known as the “spirit of the game.” Depending on their age and level, they may also participate in competitive matches and tournaments where they play against kids from other camps.
Your child will also take part in supervised practice. Here, they’ll learn a number of ultimate frisbee skills, tactics, and moves. These may include the following:
- Throwing (backhand, forehand, sidearm, flick)
- Catching (crab, pancake, layout)
- Pivoting and marking
- Running and conditioning
- Defensive schemes (cup, wall, zone, force, man-to-man)
- Offensive schemes (vertical stack, horizontal stack, deep, middle)
