Rules governing private schools in Toronto
Toronto private schools are governed by the Ontario Ministry of Education. All schools must be filed with the Ministry of Education.

Any private school in Toronto or anywhere in the province of Ontario is required to file a notification annually with the Ministry of Education.
The Ministry may inspect a private secondary school that has requested inspection in order to authorize the school the right to grant credits leading to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The Ministry does not inspect private elementary schools unless there is a complaint about the school. Investigations conducted by the Ministry of Education can be authorized under the Education Act section 16(6).
We encourage you to exercise due diligence in dealing with private schools, the same as you would with any expensive transaction.
