5 Quick Healthy Snacks for Your Kids

5 Quick Healthy Snacks for Your Kids

If you are a mom on the go, you may find it difficult to find healthy snacks for your kids everyday. You should definitely encourage them to eat fresh fruits and vegetables during snack time, but sometimes that just doesn’t cut it for my kids. They are left feeling hungry and look for something more savory. I don’t want them to eat fast food or potato chips after school, so I keep some frozen organic snacks and other delicious packaged (but healthy) foods in my kitchen. I take them out after my kids come back from high energy activities, such as swimming or soccer practice. I have five favourite snacks, and you can find brand variations at your local organic store. Even some major grocery stores carry these snacks in their health foods section. Try some of these affordable items this week!

Amy’s Kitchen Sacks

Amy’s brand has great breakfast, lunch, and snack items. She also has great ethnic food items, such as organic asian and thai noodle bowls. However, my kids just love the frozen pizza rolls. These may be a bit more expensive than the Tony’s brand, but the ingredients are definitely worth it. You can find organic spinach and tomato rolls, plain cheese rolls, and nacho rolls. The best part: they are all made of wheat flour! You and your significant other can try a few!

Pure Bars

When my kids want to satisfy their sweet tooth, I refrain from buying them baked goods from Starbucks or dessert cafes (unless it’s a special occasion). I instead keep some of these Pure Bars in my pantry. You can find some that are gluten-free and vegan as well. My kids, however, love the chocolate almond and apple cinnamon varieties. My husband and i love them as well!

Revolution Foods’ Organic Jammy Sammy

Revolution Foods’ brand sells an organic snack size peanut butter and jelly sandwich my kids ABSOLUTELY love! They are actually wheat free and made with 100 % whole grains. Additionally, the product contains no high fructose corn syrup, no transfats, and no artificial ingredients. My kids love the new flavor called blueberries and oatmeal and well.  Sometimes I give them one for a quick breakfast snack as well!

Back to Nature Trail Mix

You should get your kids into the habit of eating nuts regularly, as nuts are a good source of protein and fat (the good kind). Back to Nature has some great trail mix varieties, which contain dried fruits, almonds, and walnuts. Our favorite is the Monterey Blend, which has soy nuts, almonds, cranberries, and whole strawberries. The best thing about Back to Nature products is they have no preservatives! All ingredients are 100 per cent natural!

Back to Nature Juices

You may be wandering, what can my kids wash down these great snacks with? Try one of Back to Nature Food’s great juice blends! My grocery store carries the apple, berry, and fruit punch flavors.  None of the juices have added sugar or preservatives, and your kids will absolutely love the flavor! I love to have this juice at a pool party. Sometimes, when my husband and I are having cocktails by the pool, I give my kids this juice in a cocktail glass (with some fresh fruit). It makes for a great MOCKtail for them to enjoy!
