American Elementary School in Gdynia (AES) / American Elementary School with Lecture in English: This is a bilingual school that has been operating in Gdynia's Little Kack since 1992. It implements the Polish core curriculum, offering the best traditions of American and international educational institutions. Although AES has about 220 students, it offers a safe and intimate environment in which teachers help children discover the truth about the world, and motivate them to learn. The school uses a holistic educational approach: it focuses on the overall development of the student, not only on his academics, but also on creative thinking, problem-solving, as well as interpersonal and social skills.
AES also strengthens students' self-esteem and self-confidence. It aims to equip students with knowledge, but also to bring up conscious, young people with their own opinions, open to the world around them, caring for intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and ethical development, and ready for ambitious challenges and social involvement. As a bilingual school, it places a special emphasis on language educatio--offering intensive language learning, from zero (class "0"). For this reason, no children are required to learn English when admitted to school. When recruiting, students' level in Polish and math is assessed. AES has students from all over the world, especially the US, Canada, Korea, Denmark, Russia, France, and Poland. It has very small classes--with an average student-to-teacher ratio of 5-to-1.
