- Lotnicy i korona-przygoda… (April 28, 2020)
We are a group of schools consisting of four bodies: kindergarten, elementary, middle and high schools.
The group is administrated by the Polish Association for Promotion of Education and managed by the board of directors consisting of parents of the students of our schools.
We work in a variety of ways at our schools. By implementing the program, we often reach for a project method that allows us to develop soft skills.
Adaptation of the school to remote work - online lessons, building e-learning platforms was a must, but it can also become an opportunity for all of us. These tools and new experiences will stay with us forever. The difficulties that arose especially at the beginning of distance learning were a valuable lesson and an important experience for all of us. We believe that everyone: students, parents and teachers will win this war, we will be even stronger and wiser.

Zespół Edukacyjny im. Lotników Amerykańskich was founded in 1990. It’s located on the campus of the University of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski, in the Bielany district of Warsaw. It is a secular educational institution implementing the Polish National Curriculum. It uses innovative teaching methods, including individualized instruction, with a focus on critical thinking, independence, and responsibility. At the lower levels, classes work according to the Dalton Plan, where the teacher gives each student tasks and freedom in how to complete them. Moreover, based on this method, the most challenging classes are held in the morning. Parts of this approach are also used at the higher levels. In high school, students gain knowledge under the guidance of a teacher and help decide when tasks are to be completed. This helps them become more self-reliant, organized, creative, and confident. The high school also has a unique organization of classes and evaluation/grading system. English is taught intensively, especially in bilingual classes. Students also learn another foreign language, which is either Spanish or German. The school collaborates with the British Council and takes part in the Addvantage program.

Central to your child's school experience is the underlying curriculum taught in the classroom. "Curriculum" refers to both what is taught and how it's taught. When considering the different curricula outlined in the next few pages, keep in mind that few schools fall neatly into one category or another. Most schools' curricula comprise a blend of best practices drawn from multiple curriculum types. Having said that, most schools do have a general overall curriculum type. These are identified for each school on OurKids.net.
Primary Curriculum: TraditionalTraditional curricula tend to be very content-based and rooted in the core disciplines. It is a structured approach that involves the teacher delivering a unified curriculum through direct instruction. Uczniowie najpierw zdobywają wiedzę podstawową i teoretyczną, aby później stosować ją w praktyce. Students usually learn by observing and listening to their teacher, studying facts and concepts in textbooks, and completing both tests and written assignments - which challenge students to not only demonstrate their mastery of content but their ability to analyze and deconstruct it critically. Class discussions are also used to create critical dialogue around the content of the curriculum.

(Example: allowing a student to write tests in a quieter room). | Modifications The underlying content and expectations are modified and/or simplified for the sake of the student. (Examples: allowing student to use a calculator on a test when other students can’t; allowing students to bring word-banks or “cheat sheets” into certain tests, etc) | Remediation Research-based therapeutic measures that target and ameliorate the underlying weakness. |
