This high school has educated youth for 25 years. It was created as an expression of rebellion against the ossified school system of the PRL times, inhibiting creativity and youth development. It's an academic institution, because the teaching staff of the school are academic teachers from the Jagiellonian University, the Pedagogical University, the University of Economics, and the AGH University of Science and Technology, and the school classes are often held in university laboratories. PALO offers high quality education, which is confirmed by the position of the school in the region and in Poland, due to very good results achieved by young people on the Polish and international matriculation. PALO implements its own educational program based on the Polish core curriculum: students have an extended foreign language learning program, where they learn English 7 hours a week, and learn a second language (i.e.,German, Spanish, or French) 3 hours a week. There is also Latin for readers.
Another required subject is philosophy, and from the second grade, students choose additional extended subjects that are carried out in groups. Students can also participate in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) with the English language; PALO belongs to the prestigious group of schools certified by the International Baccalaureate organization. Assessment is based on a point system. The school offers numerous extracurricular activities, including interest programs, subject study groups, and an extensive volunteer system. Through numerous visits to the theaters, cinemas, museums, and vernissages, it prepares young people for active participation in cultural life. It also offers sports activities such as climbing wall, modern dance, squash, and gym, with help children with their physical development. In PALO, however, first of all, knowledge is appreciated: students who achieve good results in education are offered numerous discounts in school fees.
