Dr. Robert Sims, Director
It is truly my pleasure to welcome you to The International School of Kraków.
ISK is a wonderfully warm community that embraces each and every family that joins us, ensuring that every student has access to a world class education with people who truly care for their personal wellbeing and development. In the past five years, we have seen our enrollment increase from 138 students to almost 300, a testament to the quality of school and community that ISK maintains. To keep pace with the increasing enrollment, our campus infrastructure continues to be updated and improved, adding classrooms and administrative offices and a new annex containing a large Multipurpose Room, Art Room, Music Room and two additional classrooms. Beautifully situated just outside the Krakow city limits, our rural campus provides excellent learning facilities in a healthy, natural, green setting with fresh air, open spaces, and woods for exploring just across the street.
Founded in 1993, ISK is an independent, not-for-profit, day school providing a rigorous, responsive, 21stCentury education for children from 3 years old to our graduating Seniors. A member of the Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA), ISK is the only school in the Małopolska region accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) in Europe and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) in the United States, ensuring that our school’s program meets the highest International and American standards. Beginning in the Early Years with the renowned Reggio Emilia philosophy, ISK is also a fully authorized IB World School offering the internationally recognized, academically challenging International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in High School with a research based, regularly reviewed curriculum of studies connecting the whole school together through a single mission and philosophy.
Embodying our mission to develop excellence in the intellectual and personal development of our students as tomorrow’s world citizens, we strive to create an emotionally safe, academically rigorous and intellectually stimulating environment promoting inquiry, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking. We respect each student’s individuality and talents as well as his or her need to develop universally needed skills and the shared values of trust, respect, integrity, responsibility and a sincere concern for others. With students from over 30 different countries from around the world and an experienced, dedicated faculty from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Poland, we have a wonderful opportunity to develop an appreciation for each other’s cultural differences while also embracing those fundamental things we all share.
Supporting this multicultural, multilingual community, we have a strong program for English Language Learners and, through supported immersion, our students quickly become comfortable learning, producing, and socializing in English. We also encourage all of our students to learn an additional language (French, German, Spanish or Polish) while supporting native language studies in French, Polish, and German as well.
Needless to say, we take great pride in belonging to the ISK community and I encourage you to browse our website to see what ISK can offer your family. Then, visit our school to see for yourself what a wonderful place ISK will be for you.
We look forward to welcoming you into our unique school community.
