The popularity of Catholic and Christian schools in Warsaw
Private Catholic and Christian schools in Warsaw offer education to kids of all stages—from preschool to high school. Similar to other public and private schools in Poland, they provide high-level instruction and prepare students well for the upper levels of education.
The students of these schools gain high marks in state examinations and standardized tests, and tend to do well in prestigious competitions, such as the Olympiads. These schools thus gain top positions in regional and national school rankings.
Private Catholic and Christian schools in Warsaw, Poland are growing in popularity among children, teens, and their parents. According to the most recent data of the Central Statistical Office, in the 2016-2017 school year, about 47,500 students attended one of these schools.
In Warsaw and throughout the Mazovian Province, there are several dozen Catholic and Christian schools run by religious organizations. For instance, the Warsaw Archdiocese lists 22 Catholic schools of different types in Warsaw (and 10 schools outside of it), the Association of Catholic Schools Council lists 41, and the Mazowieckie Board of Education lists 48. This includes Catholic and Christian preschools and kindergartens.
Keep in mind, though, these numbers only reflect schools run by religious organizations. Yet there are many Catholic and Christian schools run by persons or institutes that have no religious affiliation. Moreover, because the above data comes from scattered sources, and no data is collected by the National Educational Information System about Catholic and Christian schools, it’s hard to say exactly how many Christian and Catholic schools there are in Warsaw. Needless to say, though, there are far more than the numbers cited above indicate.
Clearly, then, private and non-public Christian and Catholic schools in Warsaw are seeing a rise in popularity. Families continue to flock to them in increasing numbers.
