While private school education in Poland only began in the 1980s, it’s becoming a popular option for many families. There are now strong private and non-public schools in all major Polish cities, including Kraków.
This includes schools whose main language of instruction is English. English-language schools have been established Krakow, as well as the neighbouring regions of Zielonki, Wola Batorska, Wieliczka, Skawina, and Liszki. There are also plenty of English schools in other parts of Poland, including Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław, Łódź, Gdańsk, Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Lublin, and Rzeszów.
Benefits of Krakow English schools
Private and non-public English schools in Krakow, like those in Warsaw, are becoming an increasingly appealing option, especially for international students (but also for local residents). These schools have many great perks. To learn about the benefits of private schools in Poland in general, read our guide.
High-level academics: Kraków English schools tend to have great academics. They offer plenty of challenging courses, including math, science, art, history, geography, and computers. Many also offer enrichment opportunities for high-achieving students, through programs such as IB, AP, and gifted classes.
International education: Many English schools in Kraków offer an international education. The most common program offered is the International Baccalaureate (IB), which can offered at the primary, middle , and high school level. IB is a world-class program, with an internationally-recognized curriculum.
Living abroad: Many Kraków English schools are international schools with plenty of foreign students. If your child isn’t from Poland and attends one of these schools, they’ll experience many of the advantages of living and learning in another country. They’ll have the chance to learn about new cultures, languages, and customs. If they choose, they can also travel, throughout Poland and Europe.
Small class sizes: Like many other types of schools in Poland, Kraków English schools often have small classes, with fairly low student-to-teacher ratios. This can promote lots of student interaction and participation. It can also boost student engagement.
Ample resources: Most private schools in Poland, including those in Kraków, have lots of great resources and facilities. This can support student learning both in and outside the classroom. It can also make for a more well-rounded education, and allow students to fully explore their interests and talents.
